HBO to Expand Game of Thrones Retail Products

Posted by admin on Friday, 18 November, 2011

HBO has selected Bradford Licensing to take charge of the international expansion of their Game of Thrones retail products.  No word yet on what types of products will be offered at retail locations but you can probably expect officially licensed action figures, card games and other toys to make their way to retail locations and specialty shops near you.  Either way the floodgates might just open for any number of GoT products to hit the market.  The world could use a bit more Westeros!

Game of Thrones is based on A Song of Ice and Fire, one of the most successful fantasy series ever selling over 15 million books (and climbing) worldwide.

The HBO series – which debuted in spring 2011 – is one of the network’s most popular programmes and also gathered 13 Emmy nominations.

A Celebration Exclusively Scented; Officially Beverly Hills

Posted by admin on Wednesday, 20 October, 2010

(Montclair, New Jersey – October 20, 2010) – With the ever growing need for the masses to reach the status of elite, Bradford Licensing has brought together the city of Beverly Hills along with the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce and JT Brands to bring consumers one step closer to reaching their goal. As of October 12, 2010 the city has released their three branded fragrances: Rodeo Dr., Iconic, and Must Have. The launch took place at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills and was attended by some of the City’s most prestigious community members.

Beverly Hills Launch Party

Mayor Jimmy Delshad, along with the board from the City Council and Chamber of Commerce, extended their passion for the fragrances to residents of Beverly Hills, potential licensees, and others interested in being part of the experience. As in keeping with the theme of elegance and class, perfumes were on constant display at the event with their own tables for viewing as well as multiple models presenting the fragrances to attendees throughout the night. A special gift box, including test samples of each of the three perfumes and a gift card for their favorite one, was given to those present to take home for further indulgence as a ‘Thank You’ from the city of Beverly Hills.

The night was a success as the mansion was filled with high energy and excitement with the first step in the branding of Beverly Hills complete. “The success of Beverly Hills ‘Shield’ women’s fragrance launch was a testament to the time and energy put into this license.  Over the past two years, JT Brands has been hard at work developing a product that would accurately portray the true essence of Beverly Hills to the public and we all agree they hit the mark perfectly with the first perfume to hit the marketplace!  Now we can look forward to the men’s collection,” says Michelle Minieri, President & CEO of Bradford Licensing LLC.

The worldwide launch is now in progress, with the high profile international markets receiving product first. As stated by Milin Shah, VP Business Development of Bradford Licensing India, “Consumers internationally have much stronger aspirations to be associated with the lifestyle that is Beverly Hills. They are very aware of what the City stands for, especially in the markets of China & India where the allure of the products are intensified.” The success of these fragrances internationally will only strengthen the desire for a more complete range Beverly Hills branded merchandise.

Simply put, the scent of success is now Beverly Hills!

Licensing companies beginning to make their mark in India

Posted by admin on Thursday, 29 April, 2010

Bradford Licensing has entered the Indian market with plans to launch four new brands with licensing as well as franchisee partners. The 20-year-old company plans to launch brands such as Beverly Hills, Marilyn Monroe by Sam Shaw, Pepsi, Love Beverly Hills xx etc and figure licensing partners in sync with global standards of the brands. License India, a division of Franchise India Holdings Ltd, which has been a sub-agent for Bradford Licensing, will help the company find prospective licensees in the market.

Licensing as a process allows leasing of rights to a protected, trademarked or copyrighted entity. The entity, known as the property, could be a number of things, including but not limited to, a name, an image, a logo, a signature, etc. The owner of a property is known as the licensor, while the “renter” of the rights is called the licensee. Licensing fortifies a brand by increasing its use to products outside the licensor’s core categories of interest. “It’s an important step to build a brand beyond its geographical reach. As global markets get closer and well bound, it’s pertinent to create consistency of the brand throughout”, adds Michelle Minieri, President, Bradford Licensing. The company is looking at tieing up with manufacturers for supplying merchandise or any other product categories, for the new incoming brands.

The financial model works by the franchisee paying a royalty on the gross sales, which works out to about 10 per cent. Thereafter, a minimum guarantee has to be committed by the licensee. The average length of a deal is about 3 years.

Excited about bringing in licenses for non-core business to India, Gaurav Marya, President of Franchise India, explains: “A non-core business comprises of branching out various tangents of brands under the same copy-righted name. This could comprise of creating another product or service which is not the company’s core business. For instance, a beverage company making t-shirts under their brand name as an extended marketing effort.”

On the scope of licensing in the Indian market, Gaurav adds: “An important step in the Indian licensing industry would be India becoming a part of the trademark tribunal by 2010-11. If India makes it to this global body, the global rules will comply with Indian companies and International trademarks will have a more secure presence in India.”

Bradford looks to bring up to 5 licensed brands to India

US-based brand licensing agency Bradford today said it plans to extend its agreements with international clients to sell and market merchandise sporting global brand names in India.

The company, which has international clients such as Pepsi, Beverly Hills, Mountain Dew, 7 Up and Hollywood star Denise Richards, said it is negotiations with some of them to sell their licensed merchandise in India.

Under brand licensing, Bradford will enter into agreements with its clients for marketing and sale of merchandise and other accessories in India as a means to promote these brands among consumers.

“Our target will be to have 3-5 clients in India within two years. We are already talking with some of our existing global clients to start merchandising their accessories in India and we are also keen to tap local India players,” Bradford Licensing President Michelle Minieri told PTI.

She said the company is also looking at tapping local Indian corporates, besides Bollywood icons and cricket stars, as part of its plan to gain a foothold in the newly emerging licensing market in the country.

“We see lot of potential in segments like apparels and accessories like socks, bags and ties as licensing items for the brands. In addition, we are also keen to tap Bollywood icons, cricket stars and events like the IPL, which are all recognized globally,” Minieri said.

“Globally, licensing is a multi-billion dollar industry, but it is only evolving in India. However, Indian customers crave for brands and for companies, licensing is an easy way to make their brands recognizable,” Minieri said.

She added that Bradford will also explore the option of taking Indian companies and individual industrialists abroad as global licencees.
